100ish

100 words about nothing — and everything.

  1. William was disappointed. After spending a premium on high-end headphones, he was shocked by the poor quality of the included cable—it was functional, but hardly matched the caliber of the device.

He didn’t need much: four and a half feet of high-quality cable, ideally in red to match the trim on his office chair. While he knew it was a trivial detail, he felt that after such an investment, he shouldn’t have to compromise on his setup.

He eventually settled on a balanced 4.4mm connector and clicked “buy” on Amazon. The tracking information promised delivery in four hours—just enough time for a nap.

  2. Jake pulled on the cheap jeans he bought on one of those Amazon Prime Days that seemed to be more and more frequent he thought.

The jeans still fit and they will look great with his new Chelsea boots he bought.

He grabbed his minimal wallet and keys and tossed on a cheap white T-shirt and he was out the door for date with Susan.

It was a just a drink to meet and Jake thought there’s no sense trying to impress somebody when deep down he was just a simple man in a new pair of blue jeans.

  3. Ellen stood at the top of the stairs, flashing her signature gap-toothed smile beneath a bright red, fluffy clown wig.

When Dad asked where she thought she was going with that silly thing on her head, she explained that she wanted to surprise her teacher. Dad chuckled, agreeing that her teacher would definitely be surprised.

She proudly walked out the door, the oversized wig bobbing in the wind on her way to the car. It was so big that it scraped against the roof liner as she climbed into the back seat. Before pulling away, Dad insisted she take it off for the drive, noting that the massive red hair was completely blocking his view out of the back window.

  4. Fall was almost here.

Dave found his Chelsea Boots that he had brought when they were on sale in the spring - he was smart like that, always trying to save money on things he needed.

He slipped on the new pair. Black of course. He chanced the cheaper pair compared to the more expensive pair because it was a hard pill to swallow buying a pair of boots now that they cost over $200.

They fit. A little tight maybe, but they’ll break in and by the end of spring when he slips into the running shoes and sandals he will be happy that he saved the money on boots.

  5. This will do.

It’s a plastic box to hold crap. Some might call it home organization but it’s still just a plastic basket bought from Target on a whim.

The current items are storage cables for headphones so the cables don’t take over the listening room / man cave.

This could go away tomorrow and it wouldn’t really matter that much because then the cables would just find another storage solution of some sort.

But for now, it actually works very well because its hiding an ugly wall wart plugged into a wall outlet that is mysteriously higher than the other outlets in the house.

Maybe that’s reason alone to keep it. It’s not storage any more.

    It’s decorating.
